Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa said that the workers’ new minimum wage was long overdue and urged state governors to implement the N30,000 minimum wage recently signed by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Okowa said that the previous minimum wage of N18,000 was not sustainable and had made a commitment to pay the N30,000 long before it was signed.
He also said that the minimum wage was supposed to be for the lower cadre and not for general salary increases.
