The Senate has passed a sum of N8.9-trillion as estimates for the 2019 budget as against N8.8-trn earlier proposed by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The Senate noted this is the first time that the senate would not tamper with key assumptions such as $60 per barrel of crude oil and N305/$ benchmark.
The passage follows the presentation of a report by the chairperson of the Senate Committee on Appropriation, Danjuma Goje.
Goje said the need to provide for the severance benefits of outgoing lawmakers, their aides, provision for the National Assembly orientation programme, election, and others accounted for the about N86bn increase.
