Major General David Ejoor, also known as Ovwor of the Olomu Kingdom was given a state funeral.
His funeral was attended by many high profile people including former head of state, General Yakubu Gowon, the governor of Delta, Ifeanyi Okowa and governor of Edo, Godwin Obaseki.
Gowon said that Ejoor, who lived in Ughelli south LGAs in Delta, believed in the unity of Nigeria, and had played a part in the reconciliation of the people of Urhobo and Itsekiri ethnic groups.
In his tribute, he said the former Major General would be remembered as a professional soldier and administrator.
He also acknowledged Ejoor’s belief in true federalism and his pioneering role in drafting the Nigeria Defence Policy.
