If the review by the Kano State House of Assembly on the law establishing Kano Emirate is anything to go by, then the power of the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II as the only recognised traditional ruler in the entire state will be whittle down.
The Assembly embarked on its earlier plans to review the law, following a petition filed before the House by Ibrahim Salisu and Chambers, seeking for the split of the emirate council.
Following the presentation of the petition before the legislators by the speaker, most of the members unanimously supported the move.
Meanwhile, a member of the PDP, Ali Danja said the opposition members had rejected the move.
According to Danja, the move was politically motivated; therefore the PDP legislators were not in support of it.
It appears that there’s a bad blood between the Emir and the Governor of the State, Abdullahi Ganduje as the former was said to be against the second term bid of the governor.
