Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa’s son worked for and supported President Muhammadu Buhari prior to the February 23 presidential election, the Peoples Democratic Party says.
This is the reason given in an affidavit why Justice Bulkachuwa should recuse herself from the Presidential Appeal Panel.
The PDP and its Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar told the tribunal one Aliyu Haidar Abubakar, son of the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa worked for and supported the Presidential candidate of the APC.
The PDP and Atiku alleged that Abubakar was a card-carrying member of the APC and also contested the party’s governorship primary election in Gombe State.
The opposition party and its candidate told the tribunal that they had attached the Facebook printout of the wall of the said the biological son of Bulkachuwa showing his campaign posts, photographs and posters canvassing votes for himself as a governorship aspirant and Buhari’s re-election bid to their motion as an exhibit.
Atiku and PDP insisted that the judge’s close family members being top APC members would hinder her from handling the proceedings of the tribunal without bias.
They said that the judge must step aside as a member and head of the tribunal.
