Godwin Emefiele, the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, said that in the next five years, CBN would consolidate on all existing policies and also aggressively diversify the Nigerian economy.
He said it during the University of Nigeria (UNN) convocation where he was conferred with an honorary Doctorate Degree in Business Administration.
Godwin said that CBN created policies such as multiple foreign exchange system, Nigerian-China bilateral currency swap, centralised biometric identification system unknown as Bank Verification Number(BVN) for the banking industry and among others.
However, he said that most of these policies by the apex bank were aimed at increasing the country’s local food production and conserving foreign reserves.
