Babatunde Fowler, the Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service ((FIRS) said that it generated N1.5-trillion in revenue in the first quarter (Q1) of 2019.
The Q1 figure represented 18.7% of the agency’s total revenue target of N8trn for 2019.
Fowler said the agency made 11% increase in the revenue generated from the non-oil sector more than Q1 last year.
He added that the N8trn target is achievable with the cooperation of taxpayers, deployment of technology and among other factors.
However, the FIRS boss said that one of the strategic revenue growth plans of the agency is the enforcement relating to 50,000 accounts with a banking turnover of N100-billion and above to ensure they file for their returns.
