Deziani Alison-Madueke, the former Minister of Petroleum is expected to appear in court on October 3 to answer charges related to conspiracy and the illegal act of accepting and giving gratifications.
FCT High Court in Abuja had granted the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC leave to charge Alison-Madueke and the former chairperson of Atlantic Energy Drilling Company, Olajide Omokore, on five counts on February 25.
Earlier this year EFCC counsel Faruk Abdullahi told the court that Alison-Madueke was not in court because she was in the UK. The second accused was not there because the EFCC could not serve him with a notice to appear.
The EFCC alleges that the ex-minister accepted gifts of upmarket properties in Lagos.
EFCC confirmed that they had begun the process to repatriate Alison-Madueke from the UK.
