President Muhammadu Buhari directed all Cabinet ministers to remain in office until May 28.
The President gave the directive during the valedictory session of the Federal Executive Council at the Presidential Villa.
He instructed the ministers to hand over their ministries to the various permanent secretaries on May 28.
The President also asked them to submit their handing over letters to the Office of the Secretary of the Federation by that date.
President Buhari explained that he retained the entire Cabinet for three and a half years due to their unique leadership qualities.
The Ministers took the opportunity to express their gratitude to President Buhari for giving them the rare privilege to serve as members of the federal executive council.
