President Muhammadu Buhari’s aide for new media, Bashir Ahmad, confirmed the appointment of Mohammed Adamu as the Inspector
General of Police.
In a Tweet, Ahmed said the Police Council held at the State House confirmed the appointment.
“The Police Council chaired by President Muhammadu Buhari today, confirmed Mohammed Adamu as the substantive Inspector General of Police (IGP).”
Adamu was appointed acting IGP in January 2019 and has recorded considerable success so far including Operation Puff Adder and counter-kidnapping strategies.
Police discipline and prosecution of erring police officers have also been addressed during his leadership.
President Buhari recently commended Adamu’s hardwork and observed that the IGP was losing weight as a result of his diligence.
