Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode has demanded that for the 12 June Democracy celebration to have its place of pride, those that purportedly masterminded the killing of winner of June 12, 1993 Presidential election, Moshood Abiola must be brought to justice.
The June 12, 1993 election was annulled when results already “indicated a massive victory for Abiola”.
June 12 of every year had been declared Public Holiday and Democracy Day in Nigeria by President Muhammadu Buhari. This, he did to commemorate the Democratic election of June 12, 1993.
Fani-Kayode, in an Twitter post insisted that the alleged mastermind of Abiola must be fished out and prosecuted.
He said “it is only after that is done that the ghost of June 12 will die and Nigeria will Have Peace.”
Abiola died in suspicious circumstances. His official autopsy stated that Abiola died of natural causes but the Chief Security Officer to late Head of State, Sani Abacha’s, Hamza Al-Mustaphaa alleged that Abiola was beaten to death.
Al-Mustapha, who was detained by the Nigerian government, but later released, had claimed to have video and audiotapes showing how Abiola was beaten to death.
The final autopsy report, which was produced by a group of international coroners has never been publicly released.

The best way to honor MKO Abiola is not just to declare June 12th as Democracy Day but to also bring those that killed him to justice. They must be exposed and prosecuted for murder. It is only after that is done that the ghost of June 12th will die and Nigeria will know peace.

One of the questions that previous govt's have to answer is why they refused to honor Chief MKO Abiola and declare June 12th as the authentic Democracy Day?
No matter what we may feel about @MBuhari at least he found the courage to do that whilst others failed.
