The Federal Government has hinted of plan to ensure the completion of the building of 2nd Niger Bridge before year 2022 deadline set for it.
According to the Controller, Federal Ministry of Works in charge of the bridge, Adeyemo Ajani, the project may likely be completed before the approved date.
“From the way the work is going, we are likely to complete the work before 2022. Everything is possible, the construction is fast and everyone is happy with the firm handling it, “Ajani said.
He also informed that the second Niger Bridge stood at 150 metres wide compared to the first bridge that was built in 1965 which was only 60 metres wide.
The Federal Government had awarded the project to Julius Berger Nigeria Plc for N206 Billion.
Upon completion, Julius Berger said the project will reduce strain on the current bridge, ease traffic flow, create opportunities for local residents, improve commercial viability of the immediate area and regenerate economic life.
