The Lagos State government is set to organise a stakeholders’ meeting to reintroduce the monthly sanitation service cancelled three years ago by the last administration of Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode.
The state disclosed that the sanitation law was currently being reviewed and the stakeholders’ forum will be convened to discuss issues and work out mode of operations.
The service was said to be cancelled three years ago based on economic realities.
The state’s Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources,Tunji Bello, made this known at the meeting with Association of Commodity Market Women and Men, led by the Iyaloja General of Nigeria, Folasade Tinubu-Ojo, held at the Ministry, Alausa, Ikeja.
He explained that the meeting was convened to seek the cooperation of the market leaders, women and men on the government’s zero-tolerance for indiscriminate dumping of waste.
However, Roots TV revealed that in area such as Ilaje-Otumare community in Ebute Metta West of Lagos is in deplorable state and the community live in extreme poverty with little or no amenities.
