President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday replaced the Economic Management Team with an Economic Advisory Council which will henceforth report directly to the president.
Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity said this in a statement saying that the EMT which was chaired by the Vice-President, Yemi Osinbajo has been dissolved.
Prof Doyin Salami is the Chairman of the new EAC. Other members include Mohammed Sagagi (vice-chairman), Ode Ojowu; Shehu Yahaya; Iyabo Masha; Chukwuma Soludo; Bismark Rewane; and Mohammed Adaya Salisu (Secretary).
“The Economic Advisory Council will advise the President on economic policy matters, including fiscal analysis, economic growth and a range of internal and global economic issues working with the relevant cabinet members and heads of monetary and fiscal agencies.
“The EAC will have monthly technical sessions as well as scheduled quarterly meetings with the President. The chairman may, however, request for unscheduled meetings if the need arises.”
