The Department of State Security Services (DSS) has explained the continued detention of Omoyele Sowore , the Convener of #RevolutionNow Protests despite perfecting his bail condition.
The DSS spokesman, Peter Afunnaya, in an interview disclosed that the agency had not received a copy of the court order granting him bail.
“We have not received the court order. And his (Sowore’s) counsel is a very senior member of the bar and he knows the process to follow; this process has not been followed.”
DSS claim is contrary to the position of Sowore’s lawyer, Femi Falana who in an interview said one Ayuba Adam of the agency’s Legal Service Department received the said court order on September 25, 2019 at exactly 10:08am.
Afunnaya said the DSS is a law-abiding agency. He added that the agency has the highest regard for the laws of the land and would not do anything to undermine law and order, Punch reports.
Sowore was arrested in the early hours of Saturday, August 3, 2019, after announcing his plan to stage a nationwide protest tagged #RevolutionNow.
