The House of Representatives has urged the Federal Government to release the N10Bn allocated to Zamfara State as captured in the 2019 Appropriation Act for the rehabilitation of people and communities affected by banditry in the state.
The Speaker of the House, Femi Gbajabiamila during the plenary on Thursday made this call based on the recent visit by the delegation led by him.
He mandated the House Committee on Finance to ensure compliance and urged the Federal Ministry of Finance to release the N10Bn budgetary allocation for the State in order to facilitate the process of the rehabilitation and resettlement of victims of insecurity.
However, a member of the Representatives, Bello Shinkafi moved a motion, saying that the insecurity has destroyed the social values and economic standing of millions of people, and the focus should be on peace initiatives to ensure rebuilding, resettlement, and rehabilitation of the ravaged parts of the state.
