Nigeria’s former Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has been appointed as the Director-General of the World Trade Organization.
Okonjo-Iweala is the first woman and African to hold the position.
Her appointment was announced on the official twitter handle of the World Trade Organization on Monday, February 15.
The former minister’s tenure as the organization’s Director-General begins March 1, 2021.
