The Presidency has revealed that there was an attempt by armed robbers to burgle the residence of President Muhammadu Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Ibrahim Gambari, on Monday morning.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, who revealed this in a two-part tweet on Monday night, said Gambari confirmed the attempt to burgle his residence at Aso Rock around 3am.
Garba added that the operation was unsuccessful and assured that there was nothing to worry about from the incident.
“The Chief of Staff, Professor Ibrahim Gambari has confirmed that there ‘was a foolish attempt’ to burgle his residence at 3:00am this morning but it turned out to be unsuccessful.
“Professor Gambari, whose house is on a street next to the Villa has assured that there is nothing to worry about from the incident,” he tweeted.
However, it is still unclear how armed robbers gained access into the well-fortified Presidential Villa guarded by a combined team of policemen, officials of the Department of State Services and men of the Presidential Guards Brigade of the Nigeria Army.
