Gunmen have attacked and set ablaze the Atta Divisional Police Headquarters in the Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State.
The Atta Magistrate and High Court was equally razed by the armed men. It was gathered that the community’s health center also vandalized.
The incidents reportedly took place between 1 and 2am on Saturday.
Community sources told newsmen that the invaders shot sporadically for about an hour before setting the government facilities in the community on fire.
A former president-general of the community, John Agbaso, who spoke to journalists, said, “I was the one who built the police station and the magistrate court and mobilised youths under the auspices of Transformations Ambassadors of Atta Nwambieri to build the high court. I did this so that our people will have access to government facilities. This latest incident is coming a week after they razed the house of our president general and killed his wife. The government should come to our rescue.”
