DAAR Communications PLC, the owners and operators of AIT, Raypower FM and Faaji Radio, has threatened to challenge the National Broadcasting Commission’s stance on the ban on Twitter in Nigeria in Court.
In a statement issued on Monday, the media conglomerate said it will go to court once the strike by the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) is over.
DAAR communications says the ban by the Federal Government does not represent any law as stated by the National Broadcasting Code.
Recall that in a statement issued on Monday, the NBC directed all broadcast stations across the country to suspend their usage of Twitter as a source of news.
The NBC also demanded that they deactivate their accounts on the microblogging site.
NBC quoted from Sections 2 (1), 3.11.2 as well as 5.6.3 of the NBC Act to back its stance.
