The House of Representatives has decided to investigate the suspension of Twitter operations in the country by the Federal Government.
The House said it will consider the legal frame work upon which the Federal Government took the decision and if due process was followed.
This was made known by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, while addressing other lawmakers during plenary on Tuesday.
Gbajabiamila mandated a joint Committee of Communication, Justice and Legal Matters as well as Information to carry out an investigation within 10 days to enable the House take an informed decision on the ban.
The Speaker added that Twitter has been an important means of communication and business for the younger generation of Nigerians, and the government has a responsibility to ensure it is not used to undermine national security.
The House also summoned the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, to appear before it and brief the House on the decision.
