FG distributes tablets to 300 NSIP monitors in Bauchi

The federal government distributed letters of commitment and tablets to 300 independent monitors from the National Social Investment Program  (NSIP) in Bauchi.

Hajiya Sadiya Farouq, Minister Of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, inaugurated the distribution in Bauchi on Monday.

Farouq said the tablets were compatible with the Social Investment Management Information System  (SIMIS), a web-based mobile application that would be used to monitor the activities of trained independent monitors.

The minister added that the app would also allow the ministry to see real-time reports of monitors’ activities.

“As you all know, the National Social Investment Program (NSIP) was established by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2016 with a mandate to lift citizens out of poverty.

“The program was transferred to the Federal Ministry Of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development in 2019, following the creation of the ministry.

“The programs are underway in all 36 states across the country and the Federal Capital Territory.

“Of the 5,000 independent observers identified and shortlisted for training, 4,452 have been trained across the country. Today I am distributing mission letters and devices for trained Independent Observers here.

“These devices are equipped with an application that will be used to report on the monitoring activities of the trained independent monitors. We can look at the submitted reports and see the NSIP performance metrics by state and spot areas of challenges, ”she said.

Farouq further revealed that trained independent monitors would receive a monthly stipend of 30,000, but only after reaching 80 percent of their monthly deliverables.

The Minister urged the beneficiaries to carry out their mission with the greatest sense of patriotism, diligence and sincerity.

Earlier, Hajiya Amina Katagum, Governor Bala Mohammed‘s special advisor on the social investment program, said the N-SIP aims to reduce poverty in the state.

Katagum praised the President for his persistent efforts in alleviating poverty and unemployment through the implementation of NSIP in the country.
