Soldiers have arrested about 73 suspicious men travelling in five trucks to Imo State.
The 73 person were arrested in Benue State by Personnel of the 72 Special Forces Brigade, Nigeria Army, Makurdi.
The soldiers said the suspects were arrested on Monday night at Agan Toll Gate, Makurdi, and 47 Bajaj motorcycles, which were loaded in the five trucks, were intercepted.
It was also gathered that most of the suspects originally live in Nasarawa State.
Also discovered in the trucks were some minerals like zinc and lead which they claimed to be conveying from Plateau State to a company in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Speaking on the issue, the Commander of 72 Special Forces Brigade, Lt. Col. AD Alhassan said he and his men acted based on security report as they moved to intercept the trucks immediately they got the hint that they were heading towards Makurdi.
Reacting to this, Benue State Deputy Governor, Benson Abounu, expressed surprise that such a large number of young men from the same state could be found together going to Imo State, which is experiencing serious security challenges at the moment.
