The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has dissolved the governing council of the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education in the state.
The dissolution was announced through a Government Special Announcement, signed by the Rivers State Commissioner of Education, Prof. Kaniye Ebeku, on Monday.
The statement noted the dissolution takes immediate effect.
All council members were asked to hand over all university property in their possession to the vice chancellor of the university, Prof Ozo-Mekuri Ndimele.
The statement read, “The Rivers e State Governor, His Excellency Nyesom Wike, has directed that the governing council of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education be dissolved with immediate effect.
“Accordingly, council members are requested to hand over all university property in their possession to the vice chancellor of the university, Prof Ozo-Mekuri Ndimele.”
