Many people were reportedly killed and a dozen others sustained various degrees of injuries on Sunday afternoon when suspected Boko Haram insurgents attacked a community in Askira Uba local government area of Borno state.
The insurgents were said to have invaded Kilangal village, the hometown of the Deputy Speaker of the Borno State House of Assembly, Abdullahi Musa Askira, and set various houses on fire.
According to reports, an Air Task Force fighter jet came about 2 hours to intervene but the damage had been done already.
A source said, “They operated without any resistance, we ran into bushes and many suspected to have been killed.”
