A vehicle in the convoy of former Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan, was involved in a ghastly accident on Wednesday.
Two police aides reportedly died in the accident while two others were seriously injured.
It was gathered that one of the vehicles in the convoy over sped and rammed into another.
The accident occurred around the Bill Clinton Drive area of the Federal Capital Territory around 4:30 pm.
The former president was said to be coming from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport to his residence in Abuja when the accident happened.
The Federal Road Safety Commission Corps Public Education Officer, Bisi Kazeem, confirmed the incident.
Kazeem said, “It was is convoy. Nothing happened to him and his car is not involved in the accident. The vehicles in his convoy had a bash and two died, two are at the national hospital and are recuperating. Seven cars were however involved in the accident. ”
Jonathan has expressed deep sadness over the tragic death of the two police officers attached to him, describing the incident as painful and heart-rending.
