The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Adamu, has resigned from the Senate.
The deputy chairman of the ruling party, Senator Abubakar Kyari representing Borno North, has also resigned from the Upper Chamber.
Adamu and Kyari resignation came in separate letters read during the Senate plenary on Tuesday.
They said their action became necessary following their emergence as National Chairman and Deputy National Chairman (North) of the APC respectively, and also in respect of the provisions of the amended Electoral Act.
Adamu, who said his resignation is to take effect from April 1, applauded the Senate President for his style of leadership in the ninth Senate and for being “non-partisan.”
“I am, with utmost respect and appreciation, informing you that consequent to my victory as National Chairman in the just concluded APC convention, I hereby formally resign as a senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria representing Nasarawa West senatorial district with effect from April 1, 2022,” part of the letter read.
