Abuja-Kaduna Train: Terrorists beat up male hostages, give new Threats

The terrorists who attacked the Abuja-Kaduna train released a video showing the male hostages being beaten up.

Several individuals were abducted on March 28, 2022, when the attack took place. Nine people were reported dead.

Earlier, some of the train passengers kidnapped in March have been released after the payment of ransom.

No fewer than 43 of the captives including the son of a former military governor of Kano state, Idris Garba, his wife and children are still being held.

In the video, one of the Boko Haram members claimed he escaped from the Kuje correctional facility in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Earlier this month, terrorists used explosives to breach the correctional facility in Kuje, freeing over 800 of the 994 inmates including Boko Haram detainees.

The traumatized abductees had called on some international bodies to come to their aid as the federal government have failed to do the needful.

The terrorists threatened to kill the remaining victims in their captivity and sell some off, if their demands were not met and also kidnap President Muhammadu Buhari as well as Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El- Rufai.

Reacting to the viral video and threats, on Sunday, the Presidency said security forces are not helpless in stemming the tide of insecurity confronting the country.

In a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, it was stated that the nation’s security forces are not helpless and will not display their tactics to the media. He knocked the terrorists for using what he described as propaganda to compel the government to yield to their demands.

Shehu said President Muhammadu Buhari has been supporting security agencies by boosting their morale and providing the needed equipment.
