The Nigeria’s Super Falconets team were seen sleeping on chairs and floor at a Turkish airport in Istanbul, Turkey.
However, the General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation, Dr Mohammed Sanusi, says the Falconets missed their flight from Istanbul, Turkey to Nigeria, adding that they were not stranded in the European nation.
Pictures of the team members emerged online. This not new to Nigerians, nevertheless, there was outrage by the citizens who described the situation as unfair and embarrassing.
The team was said to be travelling from Costa Rica and on a 24-hour layover in Istanbul.
Posting the photos to his social media pages, a Super Eagles’ ex-media officer, Collin Udoh, said, “Nigeria’s #Falconets have been travelling from Costa Rica since 6:30am on Monday.
Recall that the Falconets exited the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup after a 2-0 loss to the Netherlands on Sunday.
