In order to stop the actions of armed herders, the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU) has requested that the African Union and the United Nations construct a Peace Enforcement Operations Base in the region.
The base will demonstrate that the world is interested in the collective survival of minority ethnic groups, according to SOKAPU President Awemi Dio Maisamari.
He said, “We are also very sad about the silence of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), the Africa Union (AU), the Common Wealth of Nations and the United Nations (UN) over the unrelenting pogrom in Southern Kaduna.”
”With a few weeks to the end of this administration, the attacks only seem to be stepping up. And the fact that the same government wants to succeed itself at both the state and Federal levels, we have great doubts if the genocide, kidnapping, displacement and occupation will abate.
Additionally, SOKAPU requested that investigative teams be sent to Southern Kaduna to verify or refute reports of ethnic cleansing by alleged Fulani militias.
