The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says its MI-171 helicopter on a casualty evacuation mission, has crashed in Niger state. Casualty evacuation mission helicopter MI- 171 belonging to the Nigeria Air Force (NAF) crashed in Niger State on Monday.
NAF Spokesperson, Edward Gabkwet, said the helicopter was on a casualty evacuation mission when it crashed near Chukuba village in Shiroro local government area of the state.
The cause of the crash is not yet known, but the NAF has said that it is investigating the incident, and two pilots who were on board were taken to the NAF base hospital in Markurdi for treatment.
The aircraft was heading to Kaduna from Zungeru Primary school but crashed near Chukuba Village in Niger State.
At the moment, efforts to rescue the crew and passengers onboard the helicopter is currently ongoing. Meanwhile, investigations have commenced to determine the cause of the crash.
