Tobi Amusan has been cleared to participate in the forthcoming World Athletics Championship Set to take place between August 19th and 27th, 2023
The decision comes after a deliberation by A Panel of the Disciplinary Tribunal who confirmed that Amusan had not violated the Anti-Doping Rule Violation (ADRV).
Earlier on July 19th, 2023, Amusan was prohibited from participating in the World Championships due to her failure to undergo the required series of competition tests over a 12-month duration.
However, the young athlete was determined to prove and aired her innocence.
“I intend to fight this charge and will have my case decided by a tribunal of three arbitrators before the start of next month’s World Championships,”
“I am a clean athlete, and I am regularly; (maybe more than the usual) tested by the AIU – I was tested within days of my third ‘missed test.’ I have faith that this will be resolved in my favour and that I will be competing at the World Championships in August.” Amusan expressed.
Not until 17th August 2023, did the AIU’s Head, Brett Clothier, express disappointment in the early decision of the ban placed on the athlete.
The Athletics Integrity Unit tweeted:
“The decision is currently confidential but will be published in due course. Amusan’s provisional suspension has now been lifted with immediate effect.”
