Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan has secured a spot in the semifinals of the women’s 100 meters hurdles at the 2023 World Athletics Championship.
Amusan clocked in at 12.48 seconds to claim the top position in heat five of the first round of qualifications on Tuesday in Budapest, Hungary.
Jamaican champion Megan Tapper finished second at 12.51 seconds, followed by Australia’s Michelle Jenneke in third place.
Amusan ranked as the third fastest overall in the qualification phase, trailing behind the US’s Kendra Harrison with a time of 12.24 seconds and Bahamas’ Devynne Chalton with 12.44 seconds.
Amusan is set to compete in the second semifinal heat scheduled for 8pm on Wednesday.
