Former president of the National Cassava Growers Association NCGA Segun Adewumi has said that Nigeria can save N1 trillion annually from the import bill of wheat flour if 20 percent of cassava flour is included in bread production.
He also mentioned that in 2014 Nigeria spent billions importing cassava derivatives such as enhanced, industrial starch, biofuel, and sweetener.
He reiterated that Nigeria can save up to 3 Trillion annually from import bills if the items are produced locally.
