The Presidential Election Petitions Court has ruled that it lacks the jurisdiction to hear the petition filed by the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) challenging the qualification of President Bola Tinubu and Kashim Shettima.
Justice Haruna Tsammani, delivering the lead judgment, stated that the issues raised by the APM were pre-election matters that should have been addressed in a high court.
He further emphasized that the 180-day timeframe for determining such issues had already elapsed. The court held that the matters of qualification and disqualification are governed by specific provisions of the Nigerian Constitution and that the complaint raised by the APM pertains to an internal affair of a political party.
