The Labour Party (LP) has expressed its dissatisfaction with the verdict of the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal, which dismissed its petitions. The tribunal ruled that the LP’s petitions lacked merit and were based on rhetoric rather than concrete evidence.
The LP had raised several claims, including the nullification of Bola Tinubu’s election, alleging his failure to secure 25 percent of votes in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), his alleged incompetence due to forfeiture in the United States, and the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) purported failure to transmit election results to INEC’s results viewer.
In a similar vein, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has unequivocally rejected the judgment, stating that it goes against reason, the facts, and evidence presented in court, as well as the relevant electoral laws, guidelines, regulations, and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended).
