President Bola Tinubu in his New Year address expressed gratitude for the peaceful power transition in 2023 and outlined ambitious goals for 2024.
Addressing economic challenges, he announced his commitment to a new deal to speed up the delivery of the Siemens Energy power project that will ultimately deliver reliable supply of electricity to homes and businesses under the Presidential Power Initiative which began in 2018.
Tinubu stated that his administration is moving a step further in its quest to restart local refining of petroleum products with Port Harcourt Refinery, and the Dangote Refinery which shall fully come on stream.
To ensure constant food supply, security and affordability, Tinubu stated that they will step up plan to cultivate 500,000 hectares of farmlands across the country to grow maize, rice, wheat, millet and other staple crops. He added that his government has launched the dry season farming with 120,000 hectares of land in Jigawa State last November under the National Wheat Development Programme.
Tinubu pledged his commitment to business-friendly policies, foreign investments, and a new national living wage. The President underscored priorities in the 2024 budget, emphasizing defense, job creation, economic stability, and poverty reduction. He underlined equal opportunities, unity, and collaboration for a prosperous Nigeria.
