The governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has appointed Rt. Hon. Edison Ehie, the immediate-past Speaker of the State House of Assembly, as his new Chief of Staff.
Ehie resigned from his position as Speaker on Sunday night and also relinquished his seat as the representative for Ahoada-East Constituency 2 in the Rivers State House of Assembly.
He takes over from the former Chief of Staff, Hon. Chidi Amadi, who is a relative of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Ezenwo Wike.
It is noteworthy that, although the peace meeting resolution, facilitated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, acknowledged Rt. Hon. Martins Amaewhule as the Speaker of the House, there was no mention of Ehie vacating his seat as a member of the House.
