The Super Eagles are set to face either Burkina Faso or Guinea in their sole pre-AFCON friendly scheduled for January 9. Negotiations between officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and their counterparts from Guinea and Burkina Faso are still ongoing to finalize the agreement for the friendly match.
Guinea and Burkina Faso, like Nigeria, are conducting their pre-AFCON training in Abu Dhabi. Following the friendly, the Super Eagles will return to Lagos before traveling to Abidjan for the AFCON tournament.
Drawn in Group A with hosts Cote d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, and Guinea-Bissau, the Super Eagles will kick off their AFCON campaign against Equatorial Guinea on January 14.
