Deji Adeyanju, a Human Rights advocate based in Abuja, has urged Atiku Abubakar, the 2023 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, to exit politics and instead mentor emerging politicians.
Adeyanju, the convener of Concerned Nigerians, asserted that Atiku’s insistence on running for the presidency in 2023 paved the way for Bola Tinubu to become President of Nigeria.
In his New Year message, Adeyanju expressed that Atiku’s continued pursuit led to a division among other candidates, allowing Tinubu to secure victory. He emphasized Atiku’s significant contributions to Nigerian democracy but suggested it was time for him to step back and guide the younger generation of politicians.
