Sanctions have been imposed on Senegal and Mali for incidents occurring during the recently concluded Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Cote d’Ivoire, as decided by the CAF Disciplinary Board. The Fédération Malienne de Football faced charges of misconduct due to unsporting behavior exhibited by its players towards match officials.
The Disciplinary Board determined Hamari Traore to be guilty of unsporting conduct towards a match official and consequently suspended him for four matches, with two of the matches extended to a one-year suspension. Additionally, the Fédération Malienne de Football received a fine of $10,000.
The victorious Cote d’Ivoire football federation was also found guilty of team misconduct during their match against Mali and was fined $5,000.
