Senator Simon Lalong, the former governor of Plateau State and current representative of Plateau South District, has expressed shock over the murder of Sylvanus Namang, the state Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Namang, described as a journalist, politician, and community leader, was one of two men killed in an attack by unidentified gunmen at a pub in Pankshin Local Government Area. Senator Lalong conveyed his devastation at the loss.
Concurrently, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State council, condemned an attack on its members by suspected thugs during the APC Gubernatorial Primaries. Journalists covering the event were assaulted, and their equipment was destroyed.
The NUJ has issued a 7-day ultimatum to the APC, demanding an apology, replacement of damaged equipment, payment of medical bills, and assurance of journalists’ safety.
