President Bola Tinubu recently inaugurated Mrs. Saidat Oladunjoye as a Federal Commissioner of the National Population Commission, representing Lagos State, in a ceremony held at the Council Chamber of the State House in Abuja.
Around 12:36 pm, Oladunjoye took the official oath of office following the reading of her background to the members of the Federal Executive Council.
Her appointment comes as a replacement for Mrs. Bimbo Salu-Hundeyin, who has assumed the role of Secretary to the Lagos State Government.
This swearing-in ceremony follows Oladunjoye’s nomination by the President on October 12, 2023, marking a significant step in her career.
Before this role, Oladunjoye held various positions of responsibility within Lagos State’s public sector. She began her career as a Sports Officer/Project Officer in the Lagos State Ministry of Youths, Sports, and Social Development from 1987 to 1990. Subsequently, she served as a Research Officer in the state’s Ministry of Finance from 1990 to 1995, and then as a Senior Administrative Officer in the Lagos State Public Works Department in 1995.
Transitioning to the private sector, she took on the role of Executive Director at an Insurance firm before her appointment as Lagos State Commissioner for Education during Governor Babatunde Fashola’s second term.
In her statement to State House correspondents, Oladunjoye emphasized her commitment to conducting a data-centric census that promotes inclusivity and widespread acceptance. She pledged to collaborate with all relevant stakeholders to leverage technology for an improved census process.
