South Africa’s Banyana Banyana head coach, Desiree Ellis, has cautioned her team against complacency as they aim to secure a matchup with long-standing rivals, Nigeria.
The Super Falcons secured a 1-0 victory over Cameroon in Abuja on Monday, earning them a spot in the final round of the 2024 Olympic Games qualifiers.
The African champions are set to face Tanzania in the return leg of the third-round fixture on Tuesday (today).
In the first leg, Banyana Banyana claimed a 3-0 victory against Tanzania on their away turf last Friday, with Jermaine Seopesenwe, Thembi Kgatlana, and Hildah Magaia finding the net for the reigning African champions.
While the upcoming match may appear straightforward for South Africa, Ellis emphasized the need for focus: “We have to complete the task at home. We cannot afford to let complacency creep in. A single goal in the game could alter the outcome,” Ellis shared with CAF online.
