Tinubu Promises Review of Pension for Retired Police Officers

President Bola Tinubu has pledged an immediate review of the pension and severance packages for retired police officers to adequately reflect their significant contributions and dedication to the nation.

During his address at the official launch of the Police Veterans’ Foundation in Abuja, Tinubu also announced plans to issue an Executive Order designating a day between March 5 and April 1 as National Police and Veterans’ Day.

Represented by the Minister of State for Police Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, the President affirmed his unwavering support for the Veterans’ Foundation, emphasizing that supporting retired officers is both a moral obligation and a duty for government at all levels, as well as for compassionate members of society.

Tinubu emphasized, “Supporting and aiding the police veterans is not just a moral obligation but a necessary duty for governments at all levels, including compassionate members of society.”

He acknowledged the vital role veterans have played in maintaining peace and security in Nigeria, highlighting their sacrifices and heroism in upholding the idea of citizenship and patriotic duty.

The President underscored the need to acknowledge the efforts and sacrifices made by these individuals and to sustain the Police Veterans’ Foundation’s noble objectives of providing a better life and hope for retired officers facing post-service challenges.
