The AEDC expressed regret to its customers for the incorrect billing of the new tariff rate, which was attributed to a system error. The company’s X handle posted a tweet on Thursday acknowledging the issue.
The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission had approved an increase in electricity tariff for Band A customers who receive 20 hours of daily electricity supply, as announced by the commission’s Vice Chairman, Musliu Oseni.
In its apology, the AEDC admitted that some Band A customers were wrongfully charged while recharging their meters, and former Band A customers who had been downgraded to Band B were incorrectly charged the new tariff of N225 per Kilowatt Hour.
