Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun has appointed Assistant Inspector General of Police Yetunde Longe as the first female Force Secretary, demonstrating the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to gender inclusivity.
In a statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, before her appointment, AIG Longe served in various key positions, including Commissioner of Police for the Port Authority Police, Eastern Command, Port Harcourt, and Assistant Inspector General of Police in the Department of Training and Development, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
It further stated that the IGP reaffirmed the importance of gender sensitivity in police appointments and operations, emphasizing that gender equality is a non-negotiable principle.
He highlighted the significance of including women in strategic roles for the comprehensive development and effectiveness of the Police Force.
