Suspected hoodlums wreaked havoc in Jaen Makera’s quarters in the Kano metropolis, killing one person and injuring two policemen.
Outgoing Commissioner of Police, Usaini Gumel, confirmed the incident in a phone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday. The suspects killed Muktar Garba, also known as Babalia, who succumbed to his injuries at Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, Kano. Gumel stated that the hoodlums, armed with dangerous weapons, defied police presence and attacked residents.
He added that the two injured policemen, SC Wasilu Umar and PC Abdulmalik Yusif, were treated and discharged from the hospital.
A suspect, Umar Shuaibu, was arrested for attacking Yusif. The Commissioner assured that efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend the perpetrators and address the root causes of violence to ensure lasting peace in the area.
