Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has directed stakeholders to devise strategies to mitigate potential flooding in areas identified by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet).
The Commissioner Of Environment and Natural Resources, Abubakar Buba, disclosed this during a sensitization campaign in Lagos Garage Mando, Igabi Local Government Area.
The initiative, known as ‘Distilling Drainage,’ is part of the Kaduna Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (KAD-ACReSAL) project supported by the World Bank. The project aims to distill 160,000 meters of drainage within the city centers of Kaduna, Kafanchan, and Zaria Metropolis to prevent flooding.
The Commissioner urged citizens to cooperate by assisting in cleaning drainages and keeping their areas clean.
