Last month was the hottest June on record globally, according to the EU’s climate monitor, the Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S).
This milestone caps a year of unprecedented weather extremes, including floods, heatwaves, wildfires, and hurricanes.
C3S director, Carlo Buontempo, stated that for 13 consecutive months, each month has broken its temperature record, indicating a significant shift in global climate. He emphasized that this trend is “inevitable” as long as humanity continues emitting heat-trapping gasses.
